You’re invited to join us for the Blue Angels Foundation – Konica Minolta Golf & Tennis Classic benefiting wounded veterans on October 6-9th, 2022. The event will be hosted by the fabulous Park Hyatt Aviara® Resort in Carlsbad, California.


Throughout the weekend, while you’re enjoying the golf, tennis, scenery, cuisine, company and the luxury of this world-class resort, you’ll also be making an important contribution to supporting our wounded veterans. Located 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego, the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort offers casual elegance in a natural setting, accented by wildlife and wildflowers. Aviara’s architecture is designed to harmonize with the surrounding landscape. Each of the incredibly spacious guest rooms and suites includes a balcony or terrace, where guests can enjoy Aviara’s natural beauty.


Konica Minolta Golf & Tennis Classic, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy challenging golf on two of three beautiful courses, Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club, the La Costa Resort or Del Mar Country Club courses.  

On Friday, golfers will play 18 holes at either, the Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Resort, one of the finest golf facilities in southern California, Aviara’s 7,007-yard, par-72. Honored with Golf Magazine’s Play 2004 Gold Medal Resorts Award and #18 on Golf Digest’s Top 75 Golf Resorts, or the Champions Course at the La Costa Resort, the only course in California designed by Dick Wilson. Both courses feature beautifully manicured fairways and tees, serene settings, peaceful wetlands or coastal layouts sculpted around the area's natural topography and rolling hills.  

On Saturday, you will play eighteen at either the Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Club or be transported to Del Mar Country Club where ambling brooks, lakes, and cascading waterfalls wind their way through the Joseph Lee-designed course. Every hole will test players as they face rolling hills, sand traps, and water hazards. The course’s classic design makes it playable for the average player, yet challenging for the more advanced golfer. Our golfing guests are in for a real treat.


For guests who prefer tennis, we offer a warm-up tennis clinic conducted by Steve Halverson, Director of Tennis at Aviara’s beautiful Tennis facility, both Friday and Saturday. Steve promises a fun, social round-robin tournament on Saturday to practice what you have learned. The tennis clinics are guaranteed to be instructional and will focus on all aspects of your game. You will get exercise and learn everything you need to know about hitting a tennis ball!  Friday’s clinic will begin with three hours of instruction while Saturday’s fun, social round-robin tournament will take place in the morning. Anyone wanting to play more tennis after lunch is free to do so on either day.


Thursday Night’s Concert: After the International Dinner, we will all move indoors to the Grand Ballroom where guests will be treated to a performance by The Alpha Vets. The Alpha Vets are an all-U.S. Military Veterans rock band. After serving their country, the four band members turned in their weapons for guitars. They write and play their own original songs that can only be defined as rock-and-roll. The Alpha Vets are very involved in the local community, performing in military vet concerts, fundraisers, and benefits for local veterans in the San Diego area.

The Alpha Vets are led by their frontman, "Lucky Brent" Asten, drummer Steve Logan, bass player Will Rintimaki and lead guitarist Jorge Valente. Their style is upbeat, catchy and most of all – fun. The Alpha Vets will have you rocking out, dancing in the aisles.

Friday Night’s Concert: After dinner on Thursday night, guests will remain in the Grand Ballroom where The Shadowboxers will perform. The Shadowboxers are an American pop band formed in Atlanta, Georgia. The founding members – Adam Hoffman (vocals, guitars), Matt Lipkins (vocals, keyboards) and Scott Tyler (vocals, guitars) – met at Emory University and began making music together in 2008. After a year of working together, the unnamed trio entered the 1st annual Emory Arts Competition in 2008, a performance competition between ten finalists chosen from hundreds of student applicants. Their song, Not Again, was not originally chosen as one of the top ten finalists, but they wound up winning the grand prize of $3,000 and local collegiate success.

The Shadowboxers have a passion for captivating lyrics, tight harmonies, and soulful vocals. Founding members Scott Tyler, Matt Lipkins, and Adam Hoffman experienced an almost instantaneous musical compatibility when they first started writing together. Together with bassist Carlos Enamorado and drummer Cole McSween, they’ve forged a cohesive sound based on a shared reverence for the strong, taut harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel, D’Angelo, and The Beatles. This young band’s unified sound has an R&B-soaked, smart perspective replete with an abundance of vocal talent and songwriting skill. In the short time they’ve been playing together, The Shadowboxers have found a collective voice that is intelligent, soulful, and catchy.


A great event for all, the Live Auction will take place after Saturday evening’s Cocktail Reception and Awards Banquet. It gives all guests the opportunity to bring home one-of-a-kind treasures and fabulous vacations while continuing the support of our wounded veterans. Once the bidding's over, it's time to party!
